Tourist Says M’sia KTMB Trains Are Better Than Thailand’s

KTMB noticed his positive review and shared it on their Facebook page too.
A tourist recently praised Malaysia’s KTMB trains, saying they’re better than the ones in Thailand.

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) is known for connecting people across Malaysia, with routes to places like Ipoh and Butterworth.

While some locals aren’t happy with the train service, tourists seem to have a different opinion.

Richard Barrow, a travel guide from Thailand, shared his first experience using KTMB and said he immediately loved it.

He took a diesel-powered train along the East Coast Line and was surprised by how comfortable it was.

Even though it wasn’t an electric train, it had air-conditioning, which made the journey pleasant.

Barrow even said that KTMB’s trains are much better than what Thailand offers. He liked the spacious seats, small dining tables, power outlets, and footrests, all of which made his trip more comfortable.

With his experience in Thailand’s train system, Barrow questioned why Thailand hasn’t upgraded its trains to the same level as Malaysia’s.

He even mentioned that Malaysia is ahead of Thailand when it comes to train services, and the DMU trains he rode, though not the main fleet, were still really good for everyday travel.

Barrow also talked about how friendly Malaysians are, saying they often smile at strangers. He found the train staff to be especially helpful, making it easier for tourists like him.

He added that traveling in Malaysia is much simpler than in Thailand, where he currently lives. Barrow even joked that if he ever had visa problems, he’d happily move to Malaysia.
