Tour Bus And 2 Lorries Crash Into Each Other In Johor, 2 Dead & 16 Injured

46 people were on board the bus.
A tragic accident involving a tour bus and two lorries occurred around 12:30am on July 3 along the North-South Expressway southbound near KM80.7, Ayer Hitam, Johor, leaving two passengers dead and 16 others injured.

The collision, which involved a tour bus, a tanker lorry, and a tow truck, is the latest in a string of serious road accidents involving buses in Malaysia.

Earlier this year, a separate crash involving a tour bus claimed the lives of 15 university students, sparking nationwide concern about bus safety.

According to Berita Harian, the latest incident occurred just after midnight. Fire and Rescue personnel from Ayer Hitam were dispatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 12:44am.

Senior Fire Officer Md Isa Masngun confirmed that 46 people were on board the bus, including the driver.

“Two passengers were found trapped inside the wreckage and were confirmed dead at the scene by medical personnel,” he said.

Among the injured were 14 male passengers, one female passenger, and the bus driver. The remaining 27 male passengers and one female passenger were unharmed.

Firefighters used special tools to extract victims

Firefighters used rescue equipment to extricate the deceased and injured from the wreckage. The operation was officially concluded around 3:00am.

All injured victims were transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment via ambulances, assisted by the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit.

Both the 42-year-old tow truck driver and the 33-year-old tanker lorry driver survived the crash and did not sustain serious injuries.

Authorities have yet to release the cause of the accident, but investigations are expected to follow.

The incident adds to growing public concerns over the frequency of serious tour bus accidents on Malaysian highways, particularly during late-night and early-morning hours.
