Students with excellent results are typically expected to pursue their studies right after pre-U and hopefully land a high-income job after graduation.
However, 20-year-old Muhammad Danial Rohaizat, who passed his major exams with flying colours, chose to become a security guard after his STPM.

The young adult who is now working at Klang is from Kota Bahru, Kelantan. He came to earn his university tuition fees as he did not want to burden his parents.
In his interview with mStar, he said that he voluntarily chose the job for experience despite youngsters nowadays usually look down on security guards.
“I plan to continue my studies in university. That’s why I am working and saving money.”
Danial confessed that he has been interested in Business since he was young.
“When I was in the village back home, I raised ducks and started selling 100 duck eggs and 50 duck meat with my yield.”
“I worked as an agent selling milk too. I went to the milk factory every week to buy 200 bottles at wholesale price, then resold them at a higher price. “
All his earnings were used to support his living expenses or as the funds for further studies.
“Having experienced being self-employed, I applied for a job as a security guard for a different working environment and further test my ability to be independent. I also wish to experience society from a different perspective.”
Applying his prior experience from being a self-employed person, Danial sees his job as a business too.
“I see my company as my client, and I will treat them well.”
His biggest challenge at the job is the time required. His shift is 12 hours a day and travelling back and forth to his hostel takes 2-3 hours.
Danial will use the upcoming ten years to accumulate his side income and apply theories he learned from a book by Robert Kiyosaki.
“The book ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad’ changed my mindset entirely. The book pointed out poor people work to get money, and rich people work for themselves. For example, making one YouTube video will generate continuous earnings.”
Thus, he also sees real estate and investment icon Faizul Ridzuan as his role model.
