‘Too Strong!’ – Foreigner Amazed By How Hard It Is For RM1 Note To Be Torn Or Damaged

Strong.
We Malaysians are used to handling our Ringgit bills, especially notes like RM1 and RM5 — but have we ever really stopped to appreciate them?

A foreign content creator has gone viral after expressing her amazement at Malaysia’s RM1 banknote, calling it practically indestructible.

Failed to tear RM1 apart

The German woman, known as Dasha and currently based in Indonesia, posted a video on Instagram attempting to tear apart the blue RM1 note, only to fail on all fronts.

She then poured water on it, only to find the note remained completely dry, leading her to exclaim: “Malaysia’s Ringgit is too strong!”

Unique design for RM1 and RM5

In the comment section, netizens offered various reasons why the RM1 note is more durable than most banknotes.

‘RM1 is mostly handled by small children, so it has to be hard for them to tear or rip the money.”
