Malaysian man’s message of warmth and understanding is winning hearts on the internet, as he encourages his non-Muslim friends to eat and drink freely in front of him during the fasting month.
In a tweet that’s got netizens nodding in agreement, Sukri Salleh shared, “To my non-Muslim friends, you can eat and drink in front of me when I’m fasting. There’s nothing wrong with that, and it’s not a problem. It’s not disrespectful to us.”
Hello non-muslim friends.

You can eat and drink in front of me while I’m fasting.
It’s not wrong, it’s not an issue. It’s not disrespectful for us.
Unless you’re eating Kenny Hills Bakers’ Peach Strudel in front of my face, then its an issue for me. 😂
As Malaysia enters the holy month, during which Muslims must abstain from all food, drink, smoking, sexual activities, misdeeds, and foul language from sunrise to sunset.
In the past, during the fasting month, there have been incidents of school canteens being closed, non-Muslim students hiding in corners or forced to eat in restrooms, or non-Muslims being driven away or accused of being inconsiderate while eating in front of fasting Muslims.
Sukri’s tweet aims to change that, clarifying that his message is not about giving non-Muslims “permission to eat,” but rather humorously telling them they don’t need to hide or feel uncomfortable.
To those who criticized his tweet, he asked, “Haven’t you ever lived with people of other races?”

Interestingly, Sukri jokingly mentioned in his tweet, “Unless you’re eating Kenny Hills Bakers’ peach pastry in front of me, then it’s a problem for me,” which prompted a response from Kenny Hills Bakers, who asked him to check his inbox for a possible surprise.

Sukri Salleh’s tweet has received attention, with TGV Cinemas retweeting it.

One commenter said, “Fasting is a test of patience. Just as the poor cope with us eating delicious food in front of them, Muslims should do the same when those who are not fasting eat in front of them.”
