A deadly accident at Kilometer 70.4 southbound of the North-South Highway near Kluang at 6.35 pm this morning has caused three from a family to die at the scene, and one of them was severely injured. Four other victims survived.

The accident involved a Perodua Myvi, a Toyota Corolla, a Honda RSX150 motorcycle, a Toyota Hiace and a Volvo trailer.
Renggam Fire and Rescue station operation commander Abd Rahim Razali said the Toyota Corolla crashed into the back of a trailer slowing down due to an accident in front of it involving a Perodua Myvi, a van and two motorcycles.

The initial accident happened when the Perodua Myvi was spinning due to the heavy rain after trying to avoid a puddle of water.
The van that failed to avoid the spinning Myvi then crashed into it, followed by a motorcycle that also did not manage to do so. One other motorcycle successfully avoids crashing into it.

“The driver of the Perodua Myvi was injured, while the van’s driver and the motorcyclist were safe,” Abd Rahim told Harian Metro.
The primary victims come from the Perodua Myvi, who was believed to be from a family. Medical officers from the Health Ministry confirmed the death of three victims, ages 71, 22 and 18, on the spot. Their family member, a 40-year-old woman, was severely injured.
The family was believed to be travelling from Malacca to Johor.
However, the exact identities of the victims were not ascertained as of writing.
