A local doctor took to Facebook to share a heartbreaking exchange she had with a 14-year-old girl who was found to be six-months pregnant following a sexual encounter with her boyfriend.
On top of that, the girl even expressed surprise over her pregnancy as she never expected she would be impregnated after a single night of intimacy.
Discovered to be 6-months pregnant at clinic
In the lengthy post written by Amira Shazalyna Razali on Feb 19, she said the teen came to her clinic along with her mother after she missed her menstrual cycle for five months.
This immediately set off alarm bells in Amira’s mind, who sensed something was amiss and proceeded to administer an ultrasound scan on the teen, where she noticed her stomach was slightly bigger than usual for girls her age.
Her suspicions were eventually proven true when the ultrasound scan revealed the teen was six months into her pregnancy, where the fetus’ hands and legs were visible.
Needless to say, this shocked the teen’s mother, who began raising her voice and bombarding her daughter with questions.
She also asked Amira whether it was possible to abort the baby, but Amira said it’s wasn’t doable as the teen had already entered the sixth month of her pregnancy.
Admitted to sleeping with BF once
Wanting to know more about the teen’s story, Amira ushered her mother out of the clinic to speak to her privately.
When she asked whether she had been raped or had consensual sexual relations, the teen said she slept with her boyfriend only once.
It was only a one-time thing. He thought I wouldn’t get pregnant. But I think he will take responsibility for the child,” the teen added.
The teen also said her boyfriend was several years older than she was and couldn’t be sure whether he had slept with other girls too.
Although Amira’s heart ached for the teen, all she could do was to refer the latter to the nearest health clinic and hope she would seek the necessary medical attention.
Gave advice for teenage girls
Towards the end of the post, Amira had several words of advice to impart to young teenage girls.
“First, if you engage in sexual intercourse with your partner, whether just once or more, there is always a possibility of pregnancy as long as you are menstruating.
Second, don’t easily believe the sweet words of any man. If he can ask for ‘more’ from you before marriage, he can ask the same from anyone. Don’t be naïve and blindly follow what men want.
“Third, be strong and don’t fall for a man’s sweet talk, even if he promises you the moon and stars. No one can do that. If he’s truly a gentleman, let him marry you first. Then, you both can do whatever you want together.
“Lastly, what is wrong remains wrong even if many people do it. And what is right remains right, even if no one does it. Just because all your friends have ‘done it’ with their boyfriends, does that mean you should ruin your dignity and life too?” she wrote.
