Usually, it’s extra ingredients that come with a surcharge. But at one stall in Kuala Lumpur, removing your sayur costs you RM1.
A TikTok video posted by user @meowmeowwwi1 showed a sign at the stall’s glass display that read: “Don’t want vegetables? That’ll be an extra RM1.”
The notice applies to various menu items like Roti John, kebabs, pita wraps, and hot dogs. If you ask for your meal sans greens, you’ll be charged an additional RM1.

Netizens had questions. A lot of them
Unsurprisingly, this policy raised eyebrows online.
Some joked that it was the first time they’d ever seen someone get charged for not wanting veggies, while others sarcastically asked, “So do I get a refund if I change my mind and want the veggies back?”
Others speculated it could be a clever business move because if you remove vegetables, the vendor might need to add more meat or other toppings to balance the portion, hence the added charge.

Despite the confusion, a portion of netizens were actually on board with the idea, saying the RM1 penalty might encourage customers to just eat the veggies instead of tossing them aside, which could lead to healthier eating habits.

Whether you think it’s ridiculous or genius, one thing’s for sure: you’ll never look at your lettuce the same way again.
