A new national athlete has entered the chat.
Except this one walks on four legs, answers to the name Mochi, and happens to be a cat.
A viral video recently captured a feline swimming so professionally that netizens joked he looks ready to represent Malaysia at the Olympics.
What truly stole the spotlight was not just his smooth strokes in the water, but his ultra serious expression that made it look like he was competing for gold.

Swimming like he means business
In the video, Mochi is seen confidently navigating the waters at a waterfall. There is no panic, no splashing around wildly. Just pure focus.
His face? Completely locked in.
The caption written in the video reads, “Mochi’s first experience bathing at a waterfall… huhu. Practice makes perfect. Maybe next time he can become a national diver… his jump already has style.”
Judging from his clean dive and steady swim, some netizens might agree that the training arc has officially begun.

Owner did not expect that dive
Speaking exclusively to WeirdKaya, Mochi’s owner shared that even he was surprised by the impressive performance.
I honestly did not expect him to be able to dive like that,” he said.
According to him, Mochi has been exposed to outdoor adventures from a young age.
“Mochi has always gone camping with me and has been used to the flow of river water since he was young.”
However, the owner made sure to introduce the environment gradually.
On the first day of camping, I did not let him swim yet because I wanted him to get used to the environment at the waterfall first. Only on the second day did I bring him in for a swim.”
Safety first, even for future Olympians
The owner also emphasised that Mochi’s wellbeing is always the priority.
“Even when I brought him to bathe, I made sure he was in good condition and that all the equipment to dry him off was fully prepared.”
He added that Mochi is not the only adventurous furkid in the family.
I actually bring a few of my furkids camping and expose them to the camping atmosphere and the river.”
For the record, his full name is Amochi, but everyone simply calls him Mochi.
Gold medal loading?
While there are currently no official trials for feline Olympic swimmers, Mochi’s serious face and stylish jump have already won over the internet.
If practice truly makes perfect, Malaysia might just have its most unexpected athlete in training.
For now, Mochi seems perfectly content being a waterfall regular. But who knows. With that level of focus, Team Malaysia might want to keep an eye out.
