In Malaysia, one of our greatest source of pride is the spirit of multiculturalism that continues to shine and impress those from overseas.
A local man demonstrated this multicultural spirit with a TikTok video of him vibing along to Tamil tunes during a Thaipusam celebration in Melaka and the clip has since created waves online.
M’sian man grooves to Tamil songs at Thaipusam festival
In the clip shared by @otamblurrrr, it showed him and a friend attending a Thaipusam celebration in Cheng last year.
While at the festival, he was seen enthusiastically vibing to Tamil songs being played in the background while fully embracing the vibrant atmosphere.

He also expressed his views about racial unity in Malaysia in the in-text caption, where he wrote:
“That 1% who want to fight, go ahead and fight among yourselves. What’s important is that I enjoy living in Malaysia. You insult him, he insults you—when will it ever end? If you keep fighting, that’s not very Malaysian of you.”
Speaking to WeirdKaya, the OP named Otam said he has been attending the celebration ever since he was young.

“Every two years, I’d drop by for a visit because I love watching people selling different items in front of the temple while enjoying the concert there,” he said.
Otam also added he spent much of his childhood around the temple in his mother’s hometown, allowing him to embrace the celebration as part of his own.
“As long as we are in Malaysia, no matter our religion or race, we are still siblings,” he said.

Netizens deeply touched
In the comment section, Otam won himself a handful of fans who praised him for his open-mindedness and excellent display of national unity.
‘99% of us are okay only, love everyone no matter the race! Otam is a positive influencer!‘

‘We are Malaysians!‘

‘Respect you bro!’
