More than a week ago, we reported about a dog who went viral on social media after photos and videos of it waiting outside a 7-Eleven store for its owner to return in Thailand touched thousands of hearts online.
Fortunately, the dog, who’s fondly known as Moo Daeng, now has a place he can call home after the princess of Thailand came to his aid.

In a Facebook post by Princess Siribha Chudabhorn on Jan 23, she wrote that she came across a video of Moo Daeng and wanted to help chip in for the dog’s medical expenses.

She added that the dog’s currently being cared for by a local woman but is unable to adopt it due to her poor health.
The princess also revealed that Moo Daeng suffers from severe depression, adding that while she had no intention to take the dog from anyone, she merely wants to lend a hand in helping and supporting it with its mental health issues.
I promise with my life that I will love and care for Moo Daeng as if he were my own child — just as I do with all my pets, both emotionally and physically.”

Moo Daeng’s heartbreaking background
Moo Daeng first made news in November 2024 when photos of him waiting sorrowfully in front of a 7-Eleven store the Mueang district of Nakhon Ratchasima province caught public attention.
His owner, who was a homeless man, had reportedly passed away due to a serious illness. But the dog still continued to wait for his return and wasn’t aware of his death.
Due to his incredible display of loyalty, Moo Daeng was given the nickname “Hachi of Korat”, which is inspired by the story of Hachiko, the dog which waited daily for its owner to return at the Shibuya Station in Tokyo.

Despite the heartbreaking circumstances, the public has showered Moo Daeng with plenty of love by covering him with blankets and putting a plush toy next to him for company.
