An argument over the washing of dishes ended in tragedy after a man in Thailand shot his nephew with a gun, leading to his death.
Thai man fires gun on nephew after he refused to wash dishes
According to Chiang Mai News, the incident took place in Chiang Khong District, Chiang Rai Province yesterday (Mar 11), where it involved a man named Wai and his nephew Phongsakorn.
Speaking to the news outlet, one of their relatives named Udon, who lived nearby, was watching television when he suddenly heard a gunshot being fired.
He added he went to probe the source of the sound 10 minutes after he heard Wai taking off from the house on a motorcycle.
When he entered the house, he found Phongsakorn lying lifeless on the ground while holding a spoon in one hand and a bowl of papaya salad with the other hand. His left leg was also seen getting caught under a table.
Udon then immediately called the village head, who proceeded to call the police.
When police arrived, they found Phongsakorn lying on his back with a homemade gun located not far from him. They also saw that the right side of his face had been shot.
Wai was later apprehended by police when he returned from from a friend’s rubber plantation.
The village head, Wutthikrai Chaiyachai, revealed Wai and Phongsakorn had a verbal argument during dinner when the latter refused to wash the dishes after being told to do so.
This caused Wai to grab the homemade gun and fire at Phongsakorn, which resulted in his death.
Wutthikrai also added the duo often argued with each other and that Wai had threatened to hurt Phongsakorn with a gun a month ago.
