Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Tengku Zafrul Aziz has accepted his nomination as the next President of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM).
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) today, Tengku Zafrul expressed gratitude for BAM’s confidence in his leadership, calling the nomination both humbling and touching.
“I would like to thank BAM for their confidence in nominating me as President of the Association. I feel truly humbled and touched by this recognition. As such, I humbly accept the nomination for the presidency,” he wrote.
He added that if elected, he would serve BAM and the sport of badminton “to the best of my abilities for the supporters of badminton across Malaysia.”

The nomination was earlier announced by BAM Acting President Datuk V. Subramaniam, who confirmed that Tengku Zafrul would be a candidate in the upcoming BAM elections.
The BAM presidency has long been considered a significant leadership position in the Malaysian sports scene.
