A 15-year-old boy has pleaded not guilty in the High Court to a charge of murdering a female schoolmate in a secondary school in Bandar Utama last year, according to Free Malaysia Today.

The plea was recorded during proceedings at the Shah Alam High Court, which were held behind closed doors as the accused is a juvenile.

The teenager is accused of killing a 16-year-old girl in a toilet at SMK Bandar Utama Damansara (4) on Oct 14, 2025, between 9.20am and 9.35am.

The charge was read out again in Mandarin before Adlin Abdul Majid, after which the accused entered his plea.

He was first charged in connection with the case on Oct 22 last year.

Due to the accused’s age, proceedings were conducted in camera, with only family members allowed inside the courtroom.

The court fixed March 3 for the next case management.

According to defence counsel Kitson Foong, the trial is expected to take place in July, with dates to be confirmed next month.

Foong also said family members of the deceased may be called to testify.

Observers from the Malaysian Bar and the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia are expected to be allowed to sit in during the trial.

The prosecution is led by deputy public prosecutors Aqharie Durranie Aziz and Zamariah Zarifah Aris.

The charge was framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty or imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years, along with whipping, if a death sentence is not imposed.
