‘M’sia A Land Of Opportunity’ – Tajikistan Woman Opens Eyelash Business While Juggling Studies

Well done!
Malaysia is a country that is blessed with plenty of resources and job opportunities which have drawn those from other countries to move over and build their lives here.

One of them is a woman named Tamiris, who travelled all the way from Tajikistan to study and eventually opened her very own eyelash business here.

Tajikistan woman opens eyelash business while studying in M’sia

Speaking exclusively to WeirdKaya, Tamiris, also known as Tommy to her friends, said she first moved to Malaysia when she was just 18 years old to pursue her Bachelor’s degree.

While pursuing her studies, Tamiris shared that she also tried looking for a part-time job to earn extra cash as well as help her parents financially. She eventually landed her first job as a retail worker, where she earned RM7 per hour.

However, it came with its own set of challenges which took a toll on her physically and mentally.

Little did she know that she would find her life’s calling at an unusual field — the eyelash business.

After a few years in retail — juggling between work and studies, constant stress, and lack of sleep — I decided to try something else and finally quit my job. This is when I discovered lashes, and my life changed.

Initially, Tamiris faced a lukewarm response from her parents, who didn’t quite agree with her career choice and insisted that she find a “real job” instead.

When I turned 21, I became fully independent from my family. I studied four days a week and worked seven days a week, taking clients after classes and on my off days.

“Was I tired? Yes! But I finally found my passion, and that’s what kept me going,” she shared.

Hard work paid off

After spending years in the eyelash industry, Tamiris’ efforts were finally rewarded when she won her first international lash competition in 2020.

“Now, I have my own business that I built from scratch. I’ve won three international lash competitions, and I have an amazing team of girls that I personally trained. We are now working together.

Looking back on my seven-year journey, I couldn’t be prouder of myself for pushing through and pursuing my dream,” she added.

Tamiris’ story proves that with determination and hard work, one can always fulfil their dreams in a place outside of their homeland. We’d also like to congratulate her on having her very own eyelash business too!
