A man in Taiwan had the shock of his life following a devastating diagnosis which saw him suffering not from one, but four types of cancer.
The incident was shared in a Facebook video by Dr Chen Liang-Yu, an otolaryngologist who handles cases involving the ear, nose, and throat (ENT) who recounted how it unfolded.
Went to see doctor for sore throat
According to Dr Chen, the man had a sore throat and went to the doctor’s office to seek treatment.
However, an examination later revealed that he had tongue cancer, thyroid cancer, kidney cancer, and colorectal cancer.

Dr Chen said the man did not suffer from any underlying conditions and exercised regularly.
Upon further questioning, it was discovered that the man was a heavy drinker and smoker—both of which are heavily linked to cancer.
On top of that, he admitted to having the habit of chewing on betel quids, which is comprised of areca nuts, betel leaves, and slaked lime, further increasing the risk of contracting oral cancer.

Made full recovery
Thankfully, the man immediately underwent intensive treatment and fully recovered from all four cancer types.
Dr Chen said with medical science continuously making strides, detecting the signs of cancer early can lead to early treatment and a better chance of survival.
He also encouraged those who experienced strange sensations with their throat or neck to seek medical attention quickly.
