A life-changing amount.
Tech giant Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., better known globally as Foxconn, turned ten of its employees into overnight millionaires during its massive year-end celebration at the Taipei Dome yesterday (Feb 12).

According to UDN Taiwan, the event, which saw an attendance of over 30,000 employees and family members, celebrated a record-breaking fiscal year where the company’s revenue surpassed NT$8 trillion (approx. RM1.07 trillion) for the first time.

The “Millionaire” draw

The highlight of the evening was a staggering lucky draw fueled by a personal contribution of NT$300 million from Foxconn founder Terry Gou.

While Gou was not physically present, his donation funded the following top-tier prizes:

  • 10 Grand Prizes: NT$10 million each (approx. RM1.24 million)
  • 20 Secondary Prizes: NT$1 million each (approx. RM124,000)
  • 1,000 Cash Prizes: NT$200,000 each (approx. RM24,800)

ET Today reported that beyond cash, the company gave away 10 Foxtron Bria electric vehicles and all-expenses-paid trips for 100 employees and their families to watch the World Baseball Classic in Tokyo this March.

Even those who didn’t hit the jackpot didn’t leave empty-handed; every registered employee received a “consolation” award of NT$16,888 (approx. RM2,260).

A record-breaking year

Chairman Young Liu attributed the company’s windfall to its dominant position in the AI server market, where Foxconn currently holds a global market share of over 40%, Yahoo! News report.

We are the top performer worldwide in AI servers. With our partners like Nvidia, we are cranking out the world’s most advanced AI supercomputers,” Liu stated during the event.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang also made a “digital appearance” via a video message, praising Foxconn for making the “impossible” possible in the realm of artificial intelligence.

Looking forward, Liu set an ambitious target of NT$9 trillion in revenue for the coming year.

Bonus culture

The lucky draw follows the distribution of year-end performance bonuses, which were reportedly 10% higher on average compared to the previous year.

High-performing veterans in the company noted that this year’s payouts were the largest they had seen in over two decades, driven largely by the massive demand for AI infrastructure and Apple’s latest product cycles.
