Living with neighbours, especially unruly ones, can prove to be an extremely challenging and stressful encounter as it drains one physically and emotionally.
A dispute between two neighbours in Taiwan ended in blood and gore after one of them gouged out the other’s eyes with his bare hands.
Taiwan man digs out neighbour’s eyes over leaking water pipe
According to Taiwanese news outlet ET Today, the grotesque incident took place in New Taipei City last Thursday (Apr 17), when a man named Jian was arguing with his neighbour Lian over a leaking water pipe between their homes.

As the argument escalated, so did Jian’s emotions, where he made the first move by striking Lian’s head with a brick.
When Lian sank his teeth into Jian’s arm to retaliate, Jian proceeded to insert his fingers right into Lian’s eyes and dug them out in order to free his arm.
SETN later reported that when paramedics were called to the scene, they found Lian’s entire face covered in blood, along with a crooked jaw.
However, they didn’t notice that Lian’s eyes were dug out and were informed by medical staff at the hospital that he was blinded for life.

Lian’s eyeballs were later discovered by police at the scene, with one still intact while the other was crushed.
Neighbour said to be a nuisance
As for Jian, he was transferred to the Keelung District Prosecutor’s Office on charges of attempted murder and was ordered to pay an NTD120,000 (approx. RM16,265) bail.

When local media went to interview Jian’s family and other neighbours, they revealed that Lian had a record of being a public nuisance for them.
According to Jian’s mother, Lian would bang items in the middle of the night and cause noise pollution, once harassed her husband, and even allegedly filmed the family going to the toilet in secret.
Her account was corroborated by several neighbours, with one saying Jian and Lian often fought over repair issues in the past but had never gotten into a physical fight.
