Sunway Group has earned the Great Place To Work Certification™ for the second consecutive year, with 93% of surveyed staff saying the company is a great place to work.
This marks an improvement from 78% in 2025.
The latest results also showed better early workplace experiences among employees. In 2026, 97% of surveyed staff said they were made to feel welcome when they joined Sunway, compared to 86% last year.
Feedback from Sunway’s employees

The certification was based on an independent Trust Index™ survey, which anonymously gathered feedback from staff across Sunway’s workforce of more than 20,000 employees and 13 business divisions.
These divisions span industries such as healthcare, education, real estate, retail, hospitality and theme parks.
The results reflect the workplace experiences of employees in a wide range of roles, from theme park ambassadors and project engineers to neurosurgeons and professors.
Sunway Group Chief Human Resources Officer Clayton Tan said the recognition was especially meaningful as it reflected employees’ own views of the company.
“This certification means a great deal to us because it reflects what our own people say about working at Sunway, not what we say about ourselves.
“It shows the progress we’ve made in strengthening our workplace culture over the years. We are encouraged by the improvement, but we see this as a checkpoint and will continue working to ensure all in the Sunway family feel supported and valued,” he said.
How the certification is determined

Great Place To Work® is a global authority on workplace culture that collects employee feedback from organisations of different sizes and industries.
Its confidential Trust Index™ survey measures trust, pride and camaraderie in the workplace using a consistent global framework.
Unlike employer recognitions decided by judging panels, the certification is determined by employees’ confidential feedback about their workplace experience.
Employees respond to 60 standardised, research-backed statements, while participating organisations must meet the survey’s validity requirements.
To receive the certification, an organisation must achieve an overall Trust Index™ score of at least 65%. The certification is valid for 12 months, meaning organisations must undergo another assessment to be recertified.
Only Malaysian company featured in a dedicated case study

Great Place To Work recently published a dedicated case study examining Sunway Group’s workplace culture.
This made Sunway the only Malaysian corporation to be featured in a dedicated case study on the Great Place To Work Malaysia website.
According to the case study, the top-scoring Trust Index™ statement was “I’m proud to tell others I work here”, with 86% of employees agreeing.
It also highlighted a decline in Sunway’s overall staff turnover rate, which fell from 23.69% in 2022 to 13.98% in 2025.
The Group’s workforce composition is also close to a 50:50 gender balance and mirrors Malaysia’s ethnic diversity, with strong representation extending to its board and senior leadership levels.
Supporting employees’ wellbeing and development

Sunway attributed these outcomes to a philosophy that has guided the Group for over five decades: doing well by doing good.
This belief that commercial success and social impact go hand in hand shapes how the Group supports the wellbeing, development and growth of its employees.
Its initiatives include the Sunway Little Sunshine Childcare Centre, which has supported working parents since 2018, and an Employee Assistance Programme offering free and confidential mental health counselling.
Sunway also provides flexible working arrangements and educational programmes promoting health and wellbeing.
Meanwhile, Kelab Sosial Sunway, the Group’s social club, connects employees across its business divisions through sports, community service and wellness activities.
Other workplace recognitions
The certification adds to the broader recognition Sunway has received as an employer.
These include the Life At Work Awards in 2024 and 2025, as well as the Gold Award for Employer of the Year at the HR Excellence Awards 2023.
At the Talentbank Graduates’ Choice Awards 2024, Sunway was recognised as a Top 1% Leading Employer in Malaysia and marked its fifth consecutive year as an award winner.
In 2021, Sunway was also the only local private-sector company ranked among Randstad Malaysia’s Top 10 Most Attractive Employers.
For Sunway, the Great Place To Work Certification™ serves as an independent validation of the workplace culture it has built over more than five decades, which continues to evolve alongside its employees.
