Recently, a nine-year-old student’s YES smartphone provided by the government under the Jaringan Prihatin program caught fire during his online class. This has caught the attention of Muar MP Syed Saddiq, who called for better phones to be given.

Today (June 18), Pn Suryani Abd Ghani posted on her Facebook, sharing that they received a brand new Redmi Note 10.
She revealed that Xiaomi Malaysia approached her and offered to give her a smartphone with better specs after her story went viral.
The Xiaomi Note 10 is the company’s latest entry-level 5G smartphone that was launched last month, and it has a much higher spec than the YES phone that nearly exploded.

In response to the incident, YTL Communications’ CEO Wing K Lee promised a thorough investigation into the matter, stating that “the safety of their products and users is of paramount importance”.
He also added that out of the 100,000 YES Altitude 3 smartphones distributed, they have yet to receive any reports concerning safety issues thus far.
