Commuters travelling along Jalan Parlimen during weekday mornings may notice a rather unusual sight, a stray dog calmly “on duty” alongside traffic police officers.
According to The Star, the beige-coloured stray, affectionately known as Jon, has been showing up at the busy stretch for the past two years, greeting motorists and accompanying officers as they manage traffic.
“Working” side by side with traffic police
Jon is often seen positioning himself at intersections leading Taman Tugu and Bukit Aman, appearing to “assist” officers directing the steady flow of vehicles during peak hours.
Despite not having any formal training, the friendly canine has become a familiar presence, calmly staying by the roadside and keeping close to whichever officer is on duty.

The heartwarming sight also caught the attention of the Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM), who shared a lighthearted post about Jon on Facebook.
In the post, PDRM jokingly imagined a conversation between the officer and the dog:
A familiar face for daily commuters
Over time, Jon has become more than just a stray dog, he is now a comforting and familiar figure for both traffic officers and road users navigating the busy Jalan Parlimen stretch.
One netizen shared that Jon’s presence is something regular commuters have grown used to.
“I witness this every morning on my way to work. While the traffic officer lets one side move, Jon stands firmly and blocks the opposite direction. Amazing how a K9 can understand traffic discipline,” the user wrote.
