Loyalty can take many forms, but few are as deeply moving as Moo Daeng’s quiet devotion.
This stray dog in Korat, Thailand, has spent months waiting outside a 7-Eleven convenience store, clinging to the memory of his owner who will never return.
On January 14, Moo Daeng’s story began to spread after the Facebook group Korat: A City You Can Build shared a series of photos by Mari-Mo Photography.
The images capture Moo Daeng curled up on the cold pavement, in the same spot he’s been guarding since last November.
For four years, Moo Daeng and his owner, a homeless man, were each other’s family. Together, they shared the streets of Ya Mo Market, making a home out of a small corner outside the 7-Eleven.
Life wasn’t easy, but Moo Daeng didn’t need much—just the presence of the man who cared for him. The two were inseparable, facing every day’s challenges side by side.
But in November 2024, their time together came to a heartbreaking end. Moo Daeng’s owner fell gravely ill and passed away, leaving the devoted dog behind.
Despite this, Moo Daeng has stayed. He refuses to leave the place where they spent their days together, as if hoping against hope that his owner might somehow return.
While Moo Daeng waits, the people around him have stepped in to make sure he’s cared for. The owner and staff of the 7-Eleven have gone out of their way to bring him food and lay blankets to keep him warm on cold nights.
