A group of Malaysians were among passengers evacuated on a Singapore-organised repatriation flight from Muscat, Oman yesterday (7 Mar).
According to a post shared by the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the flight safely landed in Singapore with 152 Singaporeans and their dependents on board.
Malaysians and South Koreans also given seats
Besides Singapore citizens, the aircraft also carried nationals from Malaysia and South Korea who were stranded in the region.
MFA said the available seats were offered to citizens from the two countries, describing the move as a reflection of international solidarity during times of crisis.
Authorities noted that similar assistance had been extended to Singaporeans in the past when they needed help returning home from overseas.
Emotional reunions at the airport
Photos shared by MFA showed families being reunited with loved ones at the airport, with some holding welcome signs and others embracing after the long journey home.
Some passengers were also seen tearing up as they arrived at the terminal.
More evacuation flights being arranged
Singapore authorities said they are currently planning a second repatriation flight from Muscat, which is expected to depart soon.
The MFA added that preparations are also underway for another evacuation flight from Saudi Arabia in the coming days to bring more Singaporeans home safely.
