If you haven’t heard of it already, a local streetwear brand came under fierce criticism and scrutiny after one of its co-founders was caught on dashcam chasing down a driver who honked at him with his Ferrari.
Following the incident, the company decided to organise a giveaway event today (Jan 16) as a gesture of goodwill and gratitude for the community’s support.

WeirdKaya dropped by the event to speak briefly with Stoned & Co’s CEO, Andrew Ngo, for his thoughts about the controversy and the huge turnout at the giveaway event.
‘We were shocked’
When asked what was his initial reaction when he saw the now-viral footage, Andrew said it was one of “shock and disappointment”.
It was an incident that involved more than just the company and personnel. In light of this, we decided to put out a statement to show that we do not condone or accept such behavior.

“At the same time, we held this giveaway event to reset the energy surrounding the incident as well as show the public Stoned & Co’s real identity.”
Unexpected reception
Along SS15 where Stoned & Co’s flagship store is located, many cars were seen queuing up and honking twice before claiming their free food and beverage.
Outside of the store, a long line stretching several blocks formed as eager supporters and curious bystanders patiently waited for their turn to get their hands on free merchandise.

This huge turnout surprised many, including Andrew himself, who admitted that he didn’t expect the public to appear in droves.
“Just on T-shirts alone, we gave out around 450 pieces, which is a crazy amount. We also gave out lots of food as a way to showcase the iconic stalls located across SS15 and Subang.
“But most of all, the aim of the event is to show the public our efforts in rectifying the (Ferrari) issue, and to show our gratitude for the love and support Stoned & Co has received for the past 13 years.”

‘We’re only human’
Andrew also had a message that he wants to relay to the public concerning the outrage over the Ferrari incident:
“At the end of the day, all of us are still human and I hope others will see what Stoned & Co has done all these years and understand it from a brand’s perspective.
Everyone makes mistakes and none of us are perfect, so please give us a second chance and continue to show your love and support.”
