S’porean Man Loses RM2,500 After Bag Gets Stolen From Toilet At KL Mall

A man enjoying a holiday in Kuala Lumpur experienced a shocking ordeal when his bag was stolen in a shopping mall toilet.

A Singaporean man on holiday in Kuala Lumpur with his family had his bag stolen while using the toilet at a popular shopping mall, resulting in a loss of RM2,500.

The incident happened on January 30 at around 9pm. The victim, who identified himself as Mohd, was reportedly using a toilet cubicle on the first floor when the theft took place.

According to Mothership, as the cubicle had no hooks to hang his bag, he placed it on a small shelf behind him.

Moments later, an unknown individual allegedly reached over from the adjacent cubicle and grabbed the bag.

Realising his belongings were missing, Mohd immediately reported the incident to the mall’s staff.

CCTV footage reveals shocking details

Mohd later discovered that the alleged thief was a repeat offender.

CCTV footage revealed that the suspect had taken the bag and swiftly exited towards a nearby LRT station within three minutes.

According to Mohd, the suspect opened the bag to check its contents before putting on a blue face mask and leaving. Inside the stolen bag was RM2,500 (approximately S$762) in cash.

Following the incident, Mohd and his wife spent over two hours at the police station filing a report.

This has caused significant mental stress and anxiety for both me and my wife, raising serious concerns about the safety of tourists in Kuala Lumpur,” he said.

Despite being a frequent visitor to Malaysia, this was the first time Mohd had experienced such a situation.

We naturally assume we are safe in a toilet cubicle, but this situation shows how quickly things can happen. We hope our story helps others to take precautions and avoid becoming victims.”

He shared his experience to warn others about similar incidents, urging tourists to remain vigilant when securing their belongings.
