Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has expressed his appreciation for the diligent work carried out by the Johor Chief Minister in ensuring the efficient operation of the Causeway, a key link between Singapore and Malaysia.
PM Lee’s comments came as a recognition of the concerted efforts to enhance the capacity of the Causeway to facilitate smoother traffic flow between the two countries.
During his remarks, PM Lee stressed the importance of optimizing the use of the Causeway, noting that its efficacy is determined by more than just its physical width.

“Apart from the RTS link, what we want to do is enhance, make full use of the capacity of the causeway because the flow depends not just on how wide the causeway is but also on the clearance on both sides,” Lee stated.
He specifically praised the substantial efforts by Malaysian authorities to improve the Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine (CIQ) facilities at Johor Bahru.
He pointed out the active role of the Menteri Besar, Onn Hafiz, in this endeavor.
“I see the Menteri Besar has been visiting the CIQ at all hours in order to make sure that things are flowing well, and we are trying our best to improve things on our side too,” he added.
