With SPM currently in full swing, students across the country are cramming as much as they can into their brains before sitting for what is possibly the most important examination of their lives.
However, there is one subject in particular that is sending even the most composed students into a mental breakdown, and it was none other than Additional Mathematics.
‘Whoever set the paper is heartless!’
The frustration was palpable among those who witnessed the exam paper’s difficulty firsthand, with many later taking to social media to vent it all out.
One of them ranted in a TikTok video with the following caption: “Whoever that set the Additional Mathematics paper is definitely heartless. We were absolutely battered!”
Another took to Threads to echo similar sentiments, saying she no longer harbours hopes of scoring well for the paper as the questions given weren’t “straightforward”.
“At first, I was targeting for an A-, but after sitting for Paper 2, I don’t even know what to aim for anymore. But at least it’s finally over now,” she wrote.
Some students reportedly cried
Aside from diminished hopes for stellar marks, the Additional Mathematics paper even reportedly sent some into a meltdown due to the immense pressure it created.
Kosmo reported that one parent claimed that their child was so stressed out by the paper that they came back from school with a pair of eyes that went red and swollen from uncontrollable crying.
Another parent said she was too afraid to ask her child how the exam went as she believed the latter was one of the many students who found the Additional Mathematics paper to be “impossible”.
She added that she felt especially sorry for those who poured in hours of study to prepare beforehand.
The SPM examination, which began on Nov 3, will come to an end on Dec 23.
