Today, thousands of secondary school students received their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results with bated breath, with immense joy awaiting those who scored multiple As for various subjects.
In fact, data showed that 2024’s SPM results were at its best in 11 years, where there was significant improvement compared to 2023’s results.
SPM 2024 results the best since 2013
During the announcement of SPM 2024’s results analysis, Education director-general Datuk Azman Adnan said the National Average Grade (GPN) for 2024 is 4.49, compared to 4.60 in 2023.

He added that a total of 355,933 (94%) SPM candidates were qualified to receive their certificate.
For national exams such as SPM, a lower GPN score is a sign of better performance.
“14,179 (3.7%) candidates achieved excellent results, scoring A+, A-, or A in all subjects taken, an increase from 3.1% in 2023.
This is the best performance since 2013 when candidates had to pass the Bahasa Melayu and History papers to qualify for the certificate,” he said as quoted by The Star.

402,956 candidates sat for the national examination last year and they can obtain the results from their respective schools starting 10am and nearest state education departments (for private candidates).
