Asian parents are well known for coming up with ingenious ways of helping their children break bad habits.
As a child, you must have heard your parents nag when you waste food or refuse to touch dishes that aren’t to your liking by telling you this mantra: “Don’t waste food ah! Children in Africa don‘t have enough to eat!”
However, a mother named Ah Lee took a rather unorthodox method in tackling this problem. According to her Facebook post, her son was caught throwing rice into the dustbin as he didn’t fancy it.
“His father then asked him what food does he like, and he said it was pizza.”
The father granted his wish with one condition – he had to eat nothing but pizza for the entire week, three meals a day.
While some were worried that it would damage the child’s health, the father believed it was more detrimental to let his son persist in wasting food.
Throughout the week, the son was fed pizza the entire day while the family enjoyed a variety of delectable dishes.
On the fourth day, the son got so sick of pizza that he decided to throw in the towel and promised not to waste food anymore.
From that day on, whenever he was unhappy with the food placed in front of him, his mother would counter it by asking whether he’d like to have some pizza instead.
The post has attracted much attention from netizens who were intrigued by the idea.
One wrote: “For me, I’d buy a few big bottles of soft drinks and tell my child to drink everything in one go.”
Another said: If they’re addicted to the TV, I’ll instruct them to keep watching without falling asleep!”
