Potholes can cause serious accidents and damage to vehicles, making them a significant concern for road users.
In a recent incident in Kampung Pantai Cicaru, Changlun, Kedah, several vehicles got trapped in massive road potholes.
This was shared on the Facebook page “PoCket Kedah” showing the severity of the situation.
According to initial information, this happened in Kampung Bendang Cheruk, Changlun, Kedah. This is really terrible. It endangers public safety.” they wrote in the caption.
The images show two cars stuck, with their left sides lodged in the pothole.
Another photo captures a motorcycle with both its front and rear wheels completely submerged in the hole, with passers-by working together to rescue it.
This problematic stretch of road is a two-lane passage, with the damaged area located directly in the middle of one lane, creating significant hazards for vehicles travelling in both directions.
According to China Press, Kubang Pasu District Police Chief Mohamad Rizuan confirmed that the Changlun Police Station had received complaints, primarily from construction contractors, regarding damages to vehicles caused by the road condition.
However, no formal reports of accidents on this stretch have been lodged thus far.
Adding to the confusion, some netizens speculated that the pothole resulted from a water pipe project conducted by Syarikat Air Darul Aman (SADA).
However, the company has denied involvement, asserting that the roadworks were not part of their operations.
