A local influencer has warned the public to be more aware of their surroundings and guard their belongings closely after she fell victim to a case of snatch theft recently.
In an Instagram post, she wrote that the incident took place while she was refuelling her car at a petrol station in Puchong Jaya on Feb 10.
Thief “zoomed in” on her
As seen from the dashcam footage, the influencer, known as Cabi, was seen pumping petrol with her handbag slung over her right shoulder, unaware that a male motorcyclist was prowling nearby.
After riding past Cabi to “assess” the situation, the motorcyclist makes another round before speeding towards her and grabbing her handbag.
The force of the snatch was so strong that caused Cabi to fall onto the ground, with the motorcyclist fleeing the scene with her handbag.
Cabo admitted that she was careless in deciding to bring her handbag with her while refuelling her car.
l lost everything – my phone, my wallet, my house keys and even my car keys cause my dumb a** decided to take the whole bag out.
“Thank goodness there was a car behind me so I went to her for help. I immediately went to make a police report after,” she wrote.
Suffered bruises
In an Instagram story, Cabi posted a photo of her bruised knee following the snatch theft.
Thankfully, she didn’t suffer any severe injuries and was able to replace the items she lost, namely her IC, bank cards, phone, and keys.
She also added that she’s still in a daze over what happened as it took place “within split seconds”.
Cabi posted another update and shared that the thief is still at large and that she went back and forth between two police stations.
She also said police informed her that they’re still investigating and she has yet to receive further updates so far.
