Since her disappearance on Dec 19, the family of 15-year-old Yap Xin Yuan have been hoping that she would return to them safe and sound.
However, their hopes were cruelly dashed after a DNA test officially confirmed that a severely decomposed body which was found by police in Banting on Dec 30 belonged to Yap.
‘I miss you, rest in peace’
Following the devastating news that she was no longer coming back, Yap’s sister took to Instagram to pen a heart wrenching post which reminisced on the memories they shared while she was still alive.
In the post, she also included several photos of her and Yap spending time together with the family.

Here’s what Yap’s sister wrote in the post:
“In the next life, we’ll always be sisters, and in heaven, let us be beautiful little angels together. Don’t forget to eat well, okay? I will always be your little sister.
“Be a good girl in heaven and be happy always. Don’t let us worry about you. I still need your guidance.
I will remember you forever and think of you every single day. Can you appear in my dreams every day? I really, really miss you. I will take good care of them (our parents) for you, so don’t worry.

“You will always be the best sister to me and no one can ever replace you. Sometimes we would argue, and even though I would get upset, you always cheer me up with candy.
“I understand your struggles. I know you miss home very much. You’re always welcome to come back whenever you want.
“I still want to say sorry…for taking your things and not admitting to it. Yet, you’ve always helped me handle so many things. We will always be here with you, so please rest well in heaven.
“In the next life, I promise to treat you even better. Thank you for all your guidance over the years. I will always be here. Rest in peace, my dear sister.”

Our deepest condolences to Yap’s family for their devastating loss and we hope they will find peace despite the tragedy.
