A Malaysian woman recently went viral on Threads after anonymously posting about a marriage proposal dilemma she’s facing.
In her post, she revealed that she’s a 32-year-old earning around RM15,000 a month. A man had expressed his intention to marry her, but the dowry offered was only RM8,000.
She then asked the public if she should accept it, reject it, or request at least RM15,000 instead.
She also added that her fiancé-to-be doesn’t know how much she earns, as she has always kept a low profile.

Netizens say her heart may have already rejected him
The post quickly went viral and sparked heated discussions among netizens. Some felt that the woman’s question already showed where her heart lies:
‘When you’ve already started asking here…it means your heart has already rejected him.’

Others argued that money shouldn’t be the main factor in choosing a life partner:
‘If money is what you’re looking at, then of course it’s not enough. But if you’re looking at the emotional side, how he treats you, how he talks to you, and so on — then money shouldn’t be your first priority.’

Interestingly, some netizens shifted focus to a small spelling mistake in her post.
Instead of writing “Nobody know me and my salary,” she had mistakenly written “Nobody now me and my salary.”
One netizen quipped: ‘Know’… If you’re 32 and studied so highly but can’t even spell something this simple, you’re just a normal human being.‘

The post has since drawn thousands of views and continues to fuel debate online about how much dowry is considered “enough” when money and emotions are both at play.
