What are the odds that you would get struck by lightning while driving on the road? Some might say that chances are slimmer than winning the lottery.
Perhaps this was what the driver of a Perodua Alza had in mind while driving down the highway during rainy weather—except that this time, the odds were in their favour (though with terrifying results).
Perodua Alza get struck by lightning
In an 18-second clip that has been making rounds on Xiaohongshu, it showed the dashcam owner driving along the highway as rain poured down heavily.
Suddenly, a bolt of lightning is seen striking the Perodua Alza just a few metres right in front of the dashcam owner, making it a frightening sight to behold.

Miraculously, the lightning didn’t seem to lead to any catastrophic results as the Perodua Alza continued making its way down the highway. However, it’s not known whether anyone was hurt.
Even the dashcam owner couldn’t seem to believe what had just transpired, where he wrote in the caption asking whether his eyes were playing tricks on him.
‘Is this a sign?’
Netizens were also thunderstruck (pun intended) by the terrifying footage, with many expressing shock while others made light banter over it.
One jokingly asked whether the clip was a ‘sign’ telling him not to buy a Perodua Alza in the future.

Another speculated that the driver must have been arguing with his girlfriend and making an oath seconds before lightning struck.

Some also expressed concern for the Perodua Alza driver and passengers, but a netizen assured that they were fine thanks to a Faraday cage being built into the metal exterior of the car, a device which helps divert lightning strikes away.

We’re glad no one got hurt in the incident but honestly that was a really close call!
