SG Woman Loses Passport During JB Trip, Gets Told That She Can Only Leave M’sia In November

From fun to horror.
While going for a trip with friends is usually a happy occasion, things can quickly go down south when unfortunate things occur due to negligence or sheer bad luck.

A Singaporean TikToker found herself caught in a huge nightmare after she lost her passport while visiting Johor Bahru (JB) and even faced the possibility of not being able to return home for months.

SG woman loses passport during JB trip

Taking to TikTok to share her experience, the TikToker named Sabrina Sim said that she and her friends travelled to JB from Singapore on Aug 9 for a “quick massage and a Haidilao meal” at around 1am as it was the long weekend due to the Singapore National Day holiday.

She added that none of them brought their passports with them and instead left it inside the car as they thought it would be easier that way.

Unfortunately, the opposite turned out to be true when two passports went missing, forcing the group to turn the car inside out in hopes of finding them.

On the bright side, one of the passports was eventually recovered while on the not-so-happy-side, Sabrina’s passport was nowhere to be found.

Stranded in JB for 4 days

After spending hours trying to search for her passport in vain, Sabrina filed a police report. But then she faced another daunting obstacle: she discovered that she couldn’t go to the Singapore Embassy as it was closed until Aug 13.

The worst feeling from this is that it’s an urgent matter but yet I have to do nothing about it but wait?” she lamented.

Left with no choice, Sabrina crashed at a friend’s house with her boyfriend and spent the next four days visiting various tourist spots such as KSL City Mall and the Sea Life Aquarium at Legoland Malaysia.

Gets told she can only leave in November

After spending four days exploring JB, Sabrina went to the Consulate General of the Republic of Singapore in City Square, where she managed to get a Document of Identification (DOI) which would give her a temporary travel pass to return to Singapore.

While her time at Consulate General office was rather smooth, the same couldn’t be said when she went to the Setia Tropika Immigration office, where a piece of terrible news was broken to her.

According to her, a staff member told her that she couldn’t leave Malaysia immediately and would have to wait till November to do so.

Needless to say, this left her deeply distressed and helpless, where she said that she couldn’t afford to live in Malaysia for months with close to nothing on her.

Trust me when the moment I heard that, I literally had the worst meltdown of my life.

“I pleaded with them and explained that I really cannot stay for 3-4 months in Malaysia because I don’t have anything here and I have a life back in Singapore,” she said in one of the clips.

Thankfully, her tearful pleas didn’t fall on deaf ears and she was finally given the travel pass necessary for her to go home on the same day itself.

Following the end of her harrowing experience, Sabrina had one piece of advice for those visiting a foreign country: never, never, ever, lose your passport.

She also thanked those who had offered words of support and were there for her throughout the ordeal.
