Heng ah.
Elated that she had been named the winner of Group 2 Toto prize on Jan 3, a woman in Singapore made a show out of it by arranging for a dance to be performed in front of a shrine as a form of gratitude.

Photos of the dance were later shared by the shrine’s management on its Facebook page, where it showed curious bystanders watching the dance take place and taking photos.

According to Shin Min Daily News, the woman had placed bets on the Toto New Year draw and prayed at the Four-Faced Buddha located at the Chinatown Erawan Shrine in People’s Park Centre.

Days later, she discovered that she had won a total of S$136,132 (approx. RM446,000). To express her gratitude to the deity, she decided to hold a 10-minute dance featuring dancers dressed in traditional Thai outfits in front of the shrine last Thursday (Jan 9).

She also displayed the winning cheque to prove her win and offered prayers while the dance took place.

Speaking to Shin Min, the woman, who wanted to remain anonymous, said she started buying Toto tickets five years ago and only did so occasionally or during special jackpot draws.

Upon hearing about the Four-Faced Buddha at the Chinatown Erawan Shrine which was mentioned on social media about six months ago, she went there solely with the intention of giving it a try.

I spent $10 (approx. RM32) to buy 10 S$1 Quick Pick tickets at the outlet on the first floor in the same building with randomly generated numbers before heading downstairs to visit the Four-Faced Buddha statue.

“I’ve travelled to Thailand in the past and also paid homage to the Four-Faced Buddha. I feel very lucky to have won the prize this time.

“I’ve also seen that after someone wins the prize, they will arrange dancers to perform a thank-you dance, so I made special arrangements this time as well,” she said.

The manager of the shrine later told Shin Min that the Four-Faced Buddha statue located inside came from the same batch of the famous Erawan Shrine on the streets of Bangkok, Thailand.

He added that a Thai monk came by to pray for the shop when it first opened in Chinatown.
