Following the tragedy, more heartbreaking details emerged regarding what happened before the accident took place.

Speaking to Shin Min Daily News, Alssa’s stepfather said she had just obtained her new passport on Dec 9 and expressed her desire to visit him and her mother during their trip at Genting.

Although he tried to dissuade her from travelling to Genting on a motorcycle, she insisted on doing so and arrived at around 1am on Dec 10.

After spending four hours with her stepfather and mother, Alssa and her boyfriend went back to Singapore at 5am as the latter had a meeting early that morning. Though her parents offered to take her home by car, Alssa declined.

But little did they know that it would be the last time they’d see each other again.

Boyfriend says sorry at funeral

At Alssa’s funeral, her boyfriend turned up in a wheelchair and apologised to her family for the accident. However, he refused to speak to reporters when approached.

It was also revealed that he was admitted to the Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim Hospital in Kulai for a broken leg before returning to Singapore for further treatment.

When asked what was said, Alyssa’ stepfather said the boyfriend simply said sorry, adding that nothing could be changed as it had already taken place.
