Whenever we pay someone to do a certain task, we expect the person to do it well and not do a shoddy work or worse still, not do it at all.
A Singaporean woman was left feeling cheated after she was charged RM12 by a car wash shop for a vacuuming job that never materialised and was allegedly intimidated by the manager when she confronted him.
SG woman charged RM12 for vacuuming that never took place
Speaking to Lianhe Zaobao about the incident, the woman named Jenny (pseudonym), said she went to a car wash shop in Johor Bahru, where she inquired about the prices for car wash and vacuuming services.

She was then quoted RM12 for the service and agreed to it before she left to get a burger from a nearby stall.
An hour later, she returned but was puzzled to find that her car hadn’t been vacuumed at all. When she asked the staff about it, they told her that the vacuum cleaner was broken.
“I asked why I was still being charged RM12 when the vacuuming wasn’t done, and the staff said the price remained unchanged.
I then spoke to the manager, who responded, ‘This is how things are done in Johor. If you’re not satisfied, then get your car washed in Singapore.'”

Jenny said when she argued that she should have been informed about the broken vacuum cleaner beforehand, the manager reportedly told his staff loudly: “Remember her face and car. When she comes next time, make sure to inform her of everything upfront so she won’t be disappointed.”
She added the manager’s response left her feeling intimidated and slammed the manager’s attitude in addressing the issue.
“I just wanted proper service, but they made me feel like it was my fault. This is unacceptable. Also, I noticed that most of the cars there were Singapore-registered ones.
“I hope the authorities will impose stricter regulations on car wash operators to ensure fairness and transparency, especially for Singaporean customers,” she said.

When Lianhe Zaobao attempted to contact the car wash operator for comments, it was told that the manager was unavailable and that no further statements will be given.
