SG Woman Begs People To Stop Asking Her To Shower Before Taking Public Transport

"Already not enough sleep, you still expect us to wake up earlier to shower?"
Let’s be real—there’s nothing like a morning shower to shake off sleep and get you smelling like a human being again.

But apparently, not everyone got the memo. For some, skipping this sacred ritual and heading straight to work is totally fine. For others, it’s a crime against noses everywhere.

This hot (and slightly stinky) topic has Singaporean netizens in a frenzy, all thanks to a TikTok video that called out non-showerers. And yes, it’s just as dramatic as it sounds.

‘You all smell like you have not washed your bed sheet in months’

It all started when TikToker Steph Leong decided she’d had enough of questionable odours on public transport. She took to TikTok to plead with Millennial and Gen Z men to please—please—shower before stepping out.

Steph didn’t hold back, saying:

“You all smell like you have not washed your bed sheet in months and you have marinated in months of night sweat and hair oil,” she gagged.

Her bold remarks quickly went viral, sparking both applause and outrage.

I did consider if I was just more sensitive because I have an acute sense of smell BUT wayyyyy too many people voted and agree with me, some even shared their personal stories and it’s nasty af 🤢 I don’t know, what do y’all think? singapore

‘Please, stop asking us to shower before taking public transport to work’

Not everyone agreed with Steph, though.

TikToker Xinhui was one of them. In a response video, she openly admitted to skipping morning showers and made it clear she wasn’t about to change her ways.

“Please, stop asking us to shower before taking public transport to work,” Xinhui said, pointing to her eye bags as evidence.

“Look at this—already not getting enough sleep! And now you expect us to wake up even earlier just to shower? That’s not happening.”

Her bold confession struck a nerve online, dividing netizens into two camps: those who supported her for prioritising sleep and those who thought skipping a shower before being in close quarters with others was, well, unforgivable.

‘Mandilah Singapura’

Xinhui’s video didn’t sit well with everyone.

Comments poured in, with many suggesting that if she doesn’t want to shower, she should avoid public transport altogether.

Others emphasised that morning showers aren’t just about personal hygiene—they’re also a way to show consideration for others.

In true Singaporean style, netizens even came up with a sarcastic slogan: “Mandilah Singapura,” a cheeky twist on the national anthem Majulah Singapura.

It quickly became the rallying cry for Team Morning Shower.
