Boiling with jealousy after seeing the woman he had feelings for talking to other men, a man in Singapore hid two knives underneath his clothes and proceeded to injure her and the other man.
He was later arrested by police for the attack and is now under being investigated, reported Shin Min Daily News.
Slashed woman out of jealousy
According to the Chinese daily, the attack occurred at an apartment block at Jurong West at around 6.40pm yesterday (Jul 10).
When one of its reporter arrived at the scene, they saw the woman who was attacked having her face completely covered in blood due to two injuries on her forehead, with one between her brows and measuring at least 4cm long, raising concerns of facial disfigurement.
Speaking to the reporter, the woman said she had been chatting with two men at the void deck when the 66-year-old suspect became upset upon seeing them and suddenly attacked with a knife.
He was jealous I was chatting with other men, so he injured me and one of the men. I have never been in a relationship with him,” she said.
One of the men who was talking to the woman said the suspect became enraged and tried to drag her away but failed.
“He then went home to grab two knives, hid one underneath his clothes, and returned. He first attacked the other man chatting with the woman, then slashed her. After both were wounded in the head, the woman fought back.
“Afterwards, the suspect ran off and we called the police. Police officers later arrested him at his home,” he recounted, adding her was “really scared” during the attack and his phone screen was smashed in the process.
As for other male victim, he also sustained a head injury but it appeared to be non-life-threatening.
When contacted, police confirmed that a 64-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman sustained minor injuries but declined to be hospitalised.
They added the suspect was also slightly injured and sent to the hospital conscious, where he was subsequently arrested for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon.
Two knives were recovered and investigations are ongoing.
Suspect allegedly dabbled with drugs
The man also told Shin Min Daily News that although he often saw the suspect downstairs and acting friendly, he appeared to be mentally unstable in the attack.
“He used to greet me when he saw me and I never expected him to do something like this. He also tried to take the woman away that day and appeared very different from his usual self, suggesting that he was possibly high on drugs.”
Police have since confirmed the suspect is also under investigation for drug-related offenses, and the case has been referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau.
