SG Man Slashes Man Who Slept With Wife, Flees To M’sia But Surrenders To Police 12 Years Later

On the run for more than a decade.
Angry that his wife allegedly found physical comfort in the arms of another man, a man in Singapore injured the latter with a knife before fleeing the country.

However, after spending more than a decade in hiding, he finally decided to turn himself in as he couldn’t bear being away from his family any longer.

Was told wife became intimate with another man

According to Shin Min Daily News, Teo Lye Chye and his daughter first met the victim and his daughter at a coffeeshop at Ang Mo Kio at around 6pm on Jan 24, 2011.

When midnight struck on Jan 25, Teo’s wife joined the gathering before all of them went back to the apartment belonging to Teo’s wife to continue their drinking session at 1am.

Two hours later, a fight broke out between Teo’s children and wife after his son expressed displeasure over his mother behaving intimately with the victim.

As a result, Teo’s son was ordered to leave the apartment at 5am.

After leaving the apartment with his fiancée and two-month-old baby, Teo’s son called Teo and told him of his wife’s unfaithfulness.

Upon hearing this, Teo told his son to wait underneath the block while he took a kitchen knife from the kitchen of his rented unit, wrapped it in newspaper, and hid it behind his back, underneath his shirt.

Teo later reached the void deck at around 6am, where he and his son made their way up to the apartment. However, Teo’s son didn’t know that he was carrying a knife at the time.

After the apartment door was opened by his younger son, Teo made his way into the bedroom where his wife and the victim were sleeping.

He and his son eventually kicked open the bedroom door, allowing him to enter the room and slash the victim with the knife, causing the latter’s intestines to spill out.

Following the attack, Teo and his son fled from the apartment, with Teo ditching the knife at a rubbish bin before boarding on a flight to Malaysia. The knife was never recovered.

As for the victim, a medical record from Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) showed he sustained a through cut on his left chest, across his abdominal wall, and a laceration of the spleen.

He later underwent a surgery and was given 15 days of medical leave. While he didn’t suffer any permanent handicap, the victim still carries a permanent scar to the abdomen to this day.

Surrenders to police 12 years later

On Oct. 17, 2023, 12 years and eight months after the brutal attack, Teo turned himself in to Singapore police as he missed his family deeply.
