Whenever we go for a holiday overseas, the one document that we cannot afford to lose is our passport as it’s what determines whether we can leave the country or not.
A Singaporean man nearly had his long-awaited holiday ruined after he placed his passport on top of his luggage and didn’t notice its absence until it went down the conveyor belt.
Placed passport on top of luggage
In a TikTok video by @walkerkensg, it showed him checking in his luggage for his flight at the Changi Airport.
After doing so, he watched his luggage go down the conveyor belt but didn’t realise his passport had also gone down the same route as well.

Barely a few seconds after walking away from the conveyor belt, a horrifying realisation hit the OP as he finally noticed that his passport wasn’t with him.

Thankfully, the OP was able to recover his passport and boarding pass thanks to the help of ground crew, as shown in a follow-up video.
He added in the caption that he was about to board a flight to Harbin, China, and had dreamt of going there for the past 14 years.
He also acknowledged that he had done a huge mistake, adding that this had taught him not to simply place his passport on top of his luggage.

Thanked ground crew for assistance
Speaking to WeirdKaya, the OP said the incident took place at around 10.30pm on Dec 23.
He said that when he realised his passport wasn’t with him, he quickly approached a ground staff for help but was met with dismissive laughter.
“I then approached another ground staff and she brought me to the Scoot Airlines counter to escalate the issue.

“After 50 minutes, I was finally able to retrieve my passport after a through search and strict verification process,” he said.
The OP also expressed deep gratitude to the ground and Scoot Airlines staff who came to his rescue.
