Love makes people do bold things, and for one Singaporean man, it meant walking away from a cushy five-figure banking job to build a new life in Thailand with the woman he loves.
A 32-year-old Singaporean man named Jordan recently made headlines in Thailand after he quit his SGD12,000-a-month job (approximately RM42,000) and flew across the region to marry Eve, a 29-year-old Thai nurse he had been in a long-distance relationship with.

The couple held a Thai traditional wedding ceremony on 29 November in Kalasin, the bride’s hometown in northeastern Thailand. Both of them wore full traditional attire that became a standout moment of the celebration.

A chance meeting at a Bangkok café
According to Thai outlet Kalasin News, the couple first met at a café in Bang Na, Bangkok. Sparks flew quickly, and they exchanged Line numbers before Jordan returned to Singapore.
Despite the distance, they kept in close contact for a full year, long enough for both of them to decide that love was worth the leap.

Leaving a five-figure salary to start over in Thailand
Before relocating, Jordan earned SGD12,000 a month in a Singapore bank, an amount that converts to roughly RM42,000. He shared that giving up the income and stability wasn’t an easy call.
When he moved to Thailand to start a new chapter, his salary was cut in half, and he had to adjust to an entirely different lifestyle. He admitted the beginning was tough, but said Eve’s constant support made the transition bearable.

Jordan added that he has grown to love life in Thailand, where everything he wants, he builds from scratch. That sense of independence is one of the reasons he wants to settle there long-term.
Saying “I love you” in five languages
During the wedding, Jordan melted hearts when he professed his love to Eve in five languages: English, Singlish, Chinese, Thai and Lao.
He then surprised her again by performing a Thai song titled “Aew Lan Pat”.

Jordan’s family also travelled to Thailand for the ceremony. The couple is planning to hold another wedding in Singapore soon.
If love had a currency, this guy clearly invested everything in it, and it paid off beautifully.
