SG Man Asks M’sian Court For Death Sentence For Killing Wife’s Lover 11 Years Ago

'I do not want to ask for forgiveness, I only ask for the death penalty.'
Instead of begging with the court to show him mercy and hand him a lighter sentence, a Singaporean man did the exact opposite, stunning those in attendance.

Such was the plea of 56-year-old Quah Tee Keon, who requested the Federal Court in Johor Bahru to uphold the death sentence which was imposed on him previously.

According to FMT, the case facts stated that Quah had killed a Chinese national named Ruan Chao Qiang, who was his wife’s boyfriend, at a house in Taman Mawar Indah, Triang, Bera, Pahang, around 3.30am on Oct 13, 2013.

He then proceeded to grievously injure his wife with a knife, causing her to sustain injuries to her neck, hands and back at the same location and time.

Quah was later arrested by police after he turned himself in at Kuala Lumpur on Oct 28, 2013. He was then charged with the murder of Ruan as well as stabbing his wife and causing injuries that could have resulted in her death.

His murder of Ruan subsequently led to the death sentence being imposed on him.

However, instead of pleading for his life to be spared, Berita Harian reported that Quah withdrew his application for a review of the death sentence and made the following statement:

I do not want to ask for forgiveness, I only ask for the death penalty. Thank you.

Following his plea, a three-member bench, chaired by Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, promptly dismissed Quah’s review application and upheld his death sentence.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy public prosecutor Ng Siew Wee while Quah was represented by Bernard George.
