Growing up, we all had our share of punishment from our parents whenever we misbehave or break the rules. But one father in Singapore took a rather unconventional method to discipline his son.
Instead of caning or grounding him, he allegedly placed his son right inside a recycling bin in order to teach him a lesson for misbehaving.

In a clip shared by @thesgdaily on Saturday (June 21), it showed the man clad in a black singlet and shorts standing in front of a blue recycling bin while holding a tote bag and two balloons.
Right inside the recycling bin was a young boy believed to be the man’s son, who could be seen crying his eyes out, while his sibling stands nearby with a bewildered look on his face.
Although no audio could be heard from the clip, the man is assumed to be scolding his son for misbehaving.
In the clip’s in-text caption, the OP cheekily labelled the bizarre encounter as “Asian parenting level”.
Mixed reactions
The man’s actions has since caused a rift between netizens, with some supporting and others slamming him for placing his son inside the recycling bin.
For those who supported him, they wrote that harsher forms of discipline was needed for the current generation and praised the man for teaching his son a valuable lesson.
However, not everyone saw it the same way, with some labelling the man’s form of discipline as “child abuse”. One netizen even called for the man to be arrested.
