SG Kopitiam Slammed For Serving Super Thin Butter Slices With Toasted Bread

The kopitiam later said a new worker had unknowingly made a mistake.
Food has always held a special place in our hearts, and when we invest our hard-earned money in a meal, we expect quality and satisfaction.

A recent incident highlighted on the @sgfollowsall Instagram page features a disappointed customer who took to social media to express his frustration with a breakfast order in Singapore.

The customer, who dined at Blk 201 Tampines Street 21, ordered a simple breakfast comprising toasted bread, Kopi O kosong (black coffee), and Milo kosong. The total cost? A modest $4.70 (approximately RM 15.50).

It seems like a reasonable price for a morning meal, but what he received fell far short of his expectations.

In his post, he lamented the paltry serving of butter that accompanied his toast, describing it as “a set of thin and short slices of so-called butter.”

He attributed this experience to a phenomenon he dubbed “shrinkflation,” pointing to a trend where customers are getting less for their money.

This incident has raised concerns about the quality and value offered by eateries in Singapore, particularly when a well-known coffee shop changed hands for a staggering $40 million in Tampines.

In the comment section, the page updated to share insights from Shin Min Daily News.

A male employee from the coffee shop addressed the issue, explaining that the person who prepared the toast was a newcomer and was still learning the ropes.

“She is a new employee and doesn’t know the operation procedures very well, but the amount of butter was indeed too little,” he admitted.

However, when asked about plans for training the new staff member, the employee seemed uncertain, stating, “She is on the morning shift. I come in only in the afternoon, so I am unsure about that.”
