A woman in Singapore was left flabbergasted after a menu showing what was supposed to be a generous portion of salmon turned out to be the total opposite.
The incident was first shared in a Facebook post, where she was charged S$15.90 (RM49.90) but later only paid S$15.10 (RM47.39) after a member discount.
She also didn’t hide her disdain for the apparent false advertising, writing: “Picture versus real life. They told me the menu photo was an old photo…wow. Con job alert.”

Confronted staff
The woman, Lu Peixian, told Shin Min Daily News that she went to the stall on Apr 1 and questioned the staff over the meagre portion when the food was served to her.
However, the only response the staff gave was that the photo of the salmon dish was an old photo.
She also claimed no further explanation or offer of a refund was given.

Aside from the Facebook post, Mothership reported that Lu also left a scathing Google review, where she compared the size of the salmon to her utensils and cutlery to demonstrate how paltry it was.
Check out the size of the fork versus the miserable piece of salmon. CON JOB. I would have given ZERO (stars) if this was possible.
“I have reviewed and eaten at a lot of establishments, food courts and hawker stalls to know this is a con job!!!” she wrote.

Stall responds
When queried by Shin Min reporters, an employee said that each serving of salmon was pre-cut to a standard size that weighed about 160g.
The staff added that while the shape and size may vary from piece to piece, he denied the portion Lu received that day was a smaller slice.
“We’ve notified the owner of the incident and we’re considering to increase the size of the salmon from 10g to 20g, as well as update the dish’s visual illustration.

“In the future, I will tell customers the amount of fish before they order to avoid any misunderstanding. I will also cut the fish into larger pieces. If the fish is too small, I will give them two pieces.”
