SG-Based Actor Says His Overall Living Costs Dropped By 30% After Moving To Johor With Family 

The family is currently renting but plans to buy a house soon.
Malaysian-born actor Shaun Chen, best known for his roles on Singapore TV, has made a big life change by moving his family from Singapore to Johor Bahru, according to Lianhe Zaobao.

Despite the move, he plans to continue working between Singapore and Malaysia.

Shaun, his wife Celine, and their two daughters, settled in the Eco Botanic area in early August.

The family is currently renting but plans to buy a house soon.

Shaun shared that they moved to save on living expenses, which are about 30% cheaper in Johor, and to enroll their daughters in an international school.

Originally from Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, Shaun holds Singapore PR status.

His daughters are Malaysian citizens with Singapore PR as well.

Shaun revealed that he regrets selling his previous Johor house during the pandemic and is now looking for a new home.

While his work won’t change much, he expects fewer acting opportunities as new talents are being groomed.

He commutes between Johor and Singapore by car, which he says is manageable most days, except during holidays when traffic worsens.
