SIK – A mother of four died in a car crash after the car skidded on Jalan Jeniang-Sik-Pedu in Kampung Surau yesterday. She was travelling with her husband and her children.
Sik District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Abdull Razak Osman, said the victim Siti Fatimah Md Noor, 30, died at the scene. Her husband, Mohd Zamani Md Saad, 35, is alive but injured. Three in the car flew out the windows.
“The incident happened after 3 pm. The family was in the Proton Waja, on their way to Sik Town from their house in Kampung Belantik.”
“Her husband was driving. Upon arriving at the location, the driver lost control of the car and it skidded to the right side of the road before hitting the iron barrier.
“As a result of the impact, the car overturned. The driver and two passengers, an eight-month-old baby boy and the victim’s mother, Rokayah Che Oon, 60, were thrown out of the vehicle.
“The victim was confirmed dead at the scene. The cause of death was believed to be internal injuries,” he said in a statement.
Abdull Razak said that all the injured were taken to Sik Hospital for medical treatment.
The victim’s body was taken to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB), Alor Setar, for an autopsy.
“The exact cause of the victim’s death will be known after the autopsy, and the results of the COVID-19 screening test were obtained,” he said.
He said the case will be investigated according to Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
