After weeks of hunting the suspect down, police managed to catch up with him, culminating in a shootout which led to the latter’s death.
Setia Alam mall shooting suspect killed in shootout
According to a report by The Star, the suspect, who was a local man with seven previous records for theft and a drug-related offence, was gunned down by police during an operation at a hotel in Pulau Ketam at around 3am today.

The incident was later confirmed by Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.
“There was a shootout with the suspect in one of the hotel rooms. The suspect is in his mid-30s and was killed in the shootout.
“Two pistols with bullets were also seized from the hotel room,” he said.
What happened during mall shooting
During the Setia City Mall shooting, the suspect fired four shots at a cleaner’s legs and buttocks on Level P1 before fleeing to Level P2, where he released more bullets into the glass windows and sliding doors.

Following that, he fled the scene and hijacked a Perodua Ativa at gunpoint, where he forced the driver to leave Shah Alam and later escaped after making him stop along a highway.
